I am I not happy?” After the movie

I often ponder and find it amusing how a movie triggered a thought in my mind that ended up influencing my life. This thought paved a way for me that led me to happiness. Ironic and funny that I say this as the name of the movie is “The pursuit of happyness”, however this movie is about the relationship of a father and a son this movie impacted me in a different way. One of the reason this movie really made me think deeply is because I could, in a weird way, relate a lot to the main character who was facing failures, disappointments and the burden of responsibilities. At that phase of my life I was struggling with something similar. I had problems academically, mentally, had a lot of pressure on me and a lot of responsibilities on me. I was only 17 at the time and I know this sounds ridiculous on how a 17 year old compares himself to someone who is 35, the main character, but my problems and his problems were so similar that it caused me to think about my situation and find the answers to the questions I kept asking myself. I found the story very inspirational because it depicted the picture of hopes, and dreams and it perfectly painted the picture of selflessness that left me in awe. These were the factors that triggered my brain to really think about everything deeply and answer the question “why am I not happy?” After the movie I ended up coming to a realization that anyone has the opportunity to achieve their own pursuit of happiness, if they have self-motivation and determination. Happiness is not something that can be pursued. We already have all the capacity for happiness that we need. Happiness comes from within, and from being content with oneself. People can choose to be happy or choose to be miserable. But to be happy or to be sad they need to have particular motivation or self-determination for it. There was one scene in the movie which was so beautifully written it basically showed that the answer to every problem is determination. The main character, Chris, found a Rubik’s cube in his house and got to know that it was a gift from someone to his son. This, Rubik’s cube was something very new at that time and the world was trying to solve it but no one really accomplished to. The movie showed Chris picking up the cube and trying to solve it and the scene ends, later in the movie Chris tries to sell one of the scanners, and meets Twistle, a manager at a big business, and impresses him by solving a Rubik’s Cube during a short cab ride what this scene in my opinion showed is that Chris had successfully solved the Rubik’s cube numerous times which made him so skillful that he was able to solve the cube in a short amount of time and he accomplished this by being so determinant, by not giving up, by keep on trying again and again. Another example of being determined is when Chris trusted a hippie girl with one of his bone scanners and when the hippie ran away with the scanner, he did not just sit back and lose his faith. He ran after that lady and finally got his scanner back. This movie is the prime example of not losing faith and never giving up even if all odds are against you, Chris lost his home, he had no support, had the responsibility of his child, and had a lot of pressure on him despite all of that he never gave up and was determined for a better tomorrow and it was this determination that led him to happiness. These were the thoughts that paved my way to happiness
