Firstly, TESCO is a public limited company (PLC). This means that the public can buy shares in the company as well as sell them by stock exchange. This has resulted the company to have many owners. However, it is not necessary for the company to offer these shares. On the other hand, it can happen where people can take more than 51%, this isn’t beneficial for the company. Another feature of a public limited company is that it is exposed to the public. Meaning their reports so, they can speculate the company in depth. PLC companies are expected by law to display their financial report which will state their value of assets.
The business structure of TESCO is dependant on a hierarchal structure. This means that there are 5 members that go back to the TESCO PLC board, then there are 10 members that are accountable for the shop floor and the daily happenings.
TESCO is a private sector business. This means that it is managed and owned by individuals opposed to the government. Typically a PLC has a limited liability. In an instance, if a company were unable to pay their debts the shareholders of that company will have to pay the amounts however, they only pay what the value of their share is or the extent.
The purpose of the business is to provide a service that will attract consumers to their products with their low costs and to advertise their sales. They do this so they can increase their profits and attain more than the competing supermarkets.

Furthermore, TESCO is an international company. The definition of an international company is when. It has stores in more than one nation so, it’s operating elsewhere rather than that one city. For an example, TESCO have stores in countries like India. Meaning that they supply to their stores with their products as vice versa. 440,000 staff members work for TESCO which, makes it a large company.
Furthermore, TESCO is a successful business because of its purpose. For an example their aim is to sell low cost products in order to be better than other competing supermarkets. 1 of their 5 objectives are to have a good income by keeping their sales high. They may have high sales because they are catering for a wider range of their consumers. For an example they try and implement healthy eating products into their range of groceries. Another of their objectives are to keep an efficient online site that they will sell their products on. Their last objective is to aid the community back by providing jobs to prevent unemployment. TESCO’s purpose is to, again give quality products at low fares, as well as this they strive to give better customer service.
Secondly, Barnardo’s is a charity based in the UK. A charity makes the ownership a not-for-profit business. A not-for-profit business means that their objectives aren’t to attain money for the benefit for the business but rather to use for an unfortunate cause. So, the donations won’t go to the owners but rather to fund for the cause. The donations are then used for the benefit of that cause. For an example charities. There are several charities that will want to raise donations for different issues. These are causes like animals, natural disasters, research for illnesses etc.
A not-for-profit business like Barnardo’s will go under the voluntary sector. This means when the business has adopted a humane act that doesn’t involve profit for the purposes of the owners benefit.
Furthermore, the company has a limited by guarantee. It is more common for not-for-profit business to have a LBG. LBG means that the company doesn’t have any capital. Meaning that they don’t have any assets nor shareholders. However, they have guarantors. These are people that give guarantee on something. This means that if the company has any debts that they are not capable of then the guarantor will be responsible for the payment.
The purpose of the business is to provide aid to vulnerable beings. For an example, people in third world countries that are unable to provide themselves the basic living standard. However, Barnardo’s aids children in particular that are vulnerable and are suffering from poverty to support them.
Also, this sort of business goes in the tertiary sector. The meaning of a tertiary sector is when the company in in an industry that gives a service like transport, finance. They provide a service to the unfortunate kids by providing for them.
Barnardo’s is a national company. A national company means when it operates to the whole country. However, they work outside the country to aid children in different countries.
In addition, Barnardo’s is a large company. This is because they have over 250 staff. In total they have 5,026 employers with 10,000 volunteers.
Barnardo’s believes that they should bring a betterment in vulnerable children’s lives. They measure their success by a report that they manage. There are certain areas that they focus on and they are mental health, child (sexual) abuse and children in care. At the end of the observation the results will show evidence of why they are interested in this are as well as their objectives and how they deal with the issue. Also, what was the results? For an example their recent work that was based in 2017-2018 it had mentioned that they worked with 301,100 children as well as parents and carers. They compared their success by the work they did in 2016-2017. It had shown that there was an increase of 11% with the amount of people they worked with (272,300). Each company of a sector will have different motives. For an example a Barnardo’s, a business in a public sector, their idea of success will be how many people they have provided a service to and created a positive difference in their lives.

Firstly, the hazards that may occur at the residential home that Jack is staying in could be hazard from equipment such as a hot kettle this is a lack of awareness, due to leaving a hot kettle unattended which John may accidentally knock over and scald himself. This therefore is an equipment hazard because Jack injures himself and instead of helping him to recover may add to his problems. Moreover, in care homes there are living rooms which have equipment such as tv etc. It is highly important that there are checks taken out on these items as plugs of TVs may overload which if staff or any of the elderly clients or visitors touch they may be elocuted which may cause bruises and burns to the client. Also, they plug may cause a fire which may mean there may be deaths or serious injuries therefore its so essentially important that safe practise is taken seriously in a care home; also, regular patience must be put in place to ensure that these issues do not occur. Equipment such as computers may cause strain the neck of staff if it is placed high up, they may experience headaches, and this may mean they aren’t able to focus correctly putting themselves at risk and clients as may not perform their job correctly. It is also important that there are no equipment blocking fire exits as the elderly’s mobility has decreased it will take them longer to evacuate and they may trip on these equipment’s such as bins, wheelchairs etc which may harm the client greatly as may harm self and get caught up in fire.
Secondly, his indoor physical environment may be affected by unsafe surfaces, there may be a water spillage on the ground which may lead to john falling which could be critical, this is a hazard as he may seriously damage himself e.g. fracture bones which would have a massive impact on his life and recovery from his accident; as he won’t be able to carry out simple tasks like before. Another indoor physical hazard may be that if there is a power outage and the water stop working Jack may not be able to use the bathroom this will cause infection and will also cause stress for the workers as they will have to clean it up quickly and contain the risk of infection. Furthermore, an outdoor hazard may be that his family may be coming to visit him there may be traffic and perhaps not a lot of parking spaces this may cause the family stress and may not want
