Disaster Recovery plan
IntroductionEvery business had the goal of delivering products that are of high quality. In order to provide the growth of an organization is linked to information systems and complex devices. Such as Disasters are something that every business has to face once in a while. Disasters can affect organizations continuity. According to Awathy (2009), disasters can affect a firm’s operational mechanisms. Thus, organizations have to prepare for business continuity and data recovery pans which will help in managing disaster in future. Thejandra (2008) asserts that it is important for organizations to have an effective data recovery plan. The disaster recovery plan is for Bain and company.
The plan establishes the objectives, goals and programs for dealing with natural disasters. The plan gives a framework for the disaster recovery through anticipating the future disasters in the organization. The plan will focus on the security of the business clients and staff. Furthermore, it will ensure that the numbers of disasters that take place in the organization have reduced. According to Thejandra (2008), some of the disasters that an organization may face include bomb attacks, earthquakes, hurricanes, terrorist threats, fires and strikes.
Bain and companyThe Bain and company is a consulting firm which helps organizations to making well informed decisions and improve business sustainability. The firm’s main objectives are to incorporate the innovations into business operations. The company has more than 48 offices in 31 countries all over the world.
Disaster planThe disaster recovery plan focus on how the company will handle disaster recovery and the measures it will use in the recovery process. The disaster recovery plan will also have the safety measures the will help in improving the safety techniques (Menken & Blokdjik, 2010).
Confidentiality statementThe document is the property of Bain and company. It should not be duplicated.
Document distributionCopies of the data recovery plan will be given to every management and planning team. The disaster management board of the Bain and company will be in charge of tracking the distribution.
Recovery strategiesThere are several measures that Bain and company can use to improve business continuity and avoid losses. First of all, it should have in place a system of business records. The record will ensure that there is data backup. Thus, during disaster, the company will still be in a position to access its records. The company will no doubt continue with kit business operations smoothly even after the disaster. Secondly, the company can ensure that it has in place an insurance coverage. By insuring its activities, the company will make up for any lost equipment. The insurance coverage will also ensure that the company does not go into a loss by replacing the lost items.
Disaster plan declarationThe company puts emphasis on developing cyclic planning process. The process will help in fostering technology and innovation and that will help in in the data recovery process.
Disaster recovery proceduresThe disaster recovery procedure is steps that will be used in when a disaster takes place. Awathy (2009) asserts that the data recovery procedure involves the setting and of laws and disciplines which will ensure that the business operations run smoothly without any intermissions. First and foremost, there will be a need to have a planning committee that will be in charge of the programs to be carried out in case a disaster happens. The plan should oversee all the necessary measures. The second step is the risk assessment. Risk assessment is necessary to help the organization to measure the level of risk against disasters. The assessment will guide the organization in the implementation of the safety measures (Thejendra, 2008). It would be necessary. Additionally, there is also need to have a verification criterion. An alternative course of action will help an organization in case the initial plan is not successful. The final step is the implementation. In this step, the planning team implements the proposals which were developed earlier in the plan.
Security assessmentThere should be security features in place to boost the recovery process. The security measures should include a firm registry that will protect the documents from the disasters. The registry will ensure that the company records are not interfered with during the attack. The company will not be affected in case the disasters take place. The company can also invest in fire extinguishers and even fire exit doors. Such will make it easy to evacuate the building when there is a fire. The firm should install smoke detectors which will help warn the employees in case there is a fire. Another security measure that the company can take is to have access codes
Terrorist attack preparednessThe first thing that one has to do in case of a bomb attack is to notify the police as soon as possible. The threat should be communicated to the manager the departmental heads should also be notified about the attack.
Fire preparednessWhen fire occurs in an organization, employees need to report it to the fire department. In case the fire is a small fire, then the person who is near should try and put it off with a fire extinguisher. In case it is a huge fire, then it is one should not try to put out the fire but rather vacate the building. It is advisable to set the alarm to notify the employees of the fire. The security personnel should be in charge of the evacuations. Employee should be warned against using elevator and lifts when there is a huge fire in the company. The employees should gather at the fire assembly designated points.
Threatening situationsThe threatening situations include strike riots, and even hostage situations. In case such a situation occurs, an employee who is not in the building at the time should be informed. In doing so, such an employee will notify the police of the situation that is taking place in the organization. It is also advisable to inform the security personnel of the building where the organization is located. Menken & Blokdjik (2010) are of the opinion that it is necessary to determine the motives of those people and come to an agreement.
Incident response teamThe incident response team is responsible for emergency response. The team includes the supplies teams, first aid teams, security personnel and fire control teams.
Information flowThe information flow will be done through the public advisory committee. The information will answer any public concerns on disaster that the organization has encountered. The information from the firm needs to be handled with care.in doing so; it will help prevent nay unnecessary tension. The information should be handled carefully to prevent it from distortion. The public advisory committee will identify the communication methods like hourly announcements.
Mission statementThe incident response team at Bain and company will be responsible for the security of the employees as well as their safety. The team will also make sure that the business operations are sustainable.

The planning team will be responsible for coming up with a plan the logistics team will identify any intrusion point of the disaster. The business resource planners will be responsible for mobilization of the firm’s resources to ensure that there are minimal interruptions. The operations team will in charge of creating awareness, evacuation supervision and maintaining order. The fire control team will be in charge of firefighting activities. There will also be a first aid team that will provide first aid to help anybody who is injured. The public advisory manager is in charge of delivering information about the disaster.
Authority proceduresThe team manager will be in charge of the whole process. The team manager is in charge of relaying the commands on the activities that will be carried out with the incident response team. The reporting procedures will follow a top to down approach.
